The Dust Bowl

I just watched Ken Burns movie of the Dust Bowl.  Sad and gripping.
Then I watched The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck and wondered how much of that was truth.
Now I am reading the novel that was written by Sanora Babb,  a young woman who actually experienced living in the dust bowl during the 30's.   Her novel was not published until 2006 because of the conflict with the Steinbeck book.

This photograph was the most published in the 30's to portray what actually was happening.
